Nobody In Technology
Wants Days Like This
It’s safe to say that this trend will continue to occupy a growing portion of technology leadership and their team’s time, driven by growing regulatory demands and the escalating complexity of the digital landscape.
In addition to this, on any given day various leaders across your organization will have very different views of what that means. As an IT leader you will have to navigate and satisfy all of them … concurrently.

As the Chief Technology Officer, I have to always showcase the state of my technology risk program for proactively identifying and evaluating potential risks across all business systems.
This includes providing transparent and timely updates on risk posture to key stakeholders, including the board of directors and senior management.

As the Chief Executive Officer, I recognize that technology governance plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s reputation and fostering trust among customers and board members.
For me governance practices need to be transparent with accountability for providing clear insights into decision-making processes used for business driven technology initiatives.

As the Chief Marketing Officer, my goal is to be absolutely certain that any technology policies or changes do not negatively impact the ability to reach new customers, expand the customer base, and ultimately drive sales growth.
That means technology processes will not impede the ability to collect and use customer data, personalize experiences, and measure marketing effectiveness.

As the Chief Compliance Officer, my foremost objective is to ensure that the organization adheres to all applicable regulations and laws.
This encompasses regular reporting to senior management on compliance status and any emerging risks with impact to reputation, legal and financial wellbeing. I also have to ensure we maintain the trust and confidence of multiple regulators.

As the Chief Risk Officer, I have the responsibility to safeguard the organization’s integrity by vigilantly focusing on mitigating potential technology-related risks.
This means ensuring that internal control weaknesses do not translate into operational disruptions or financial losses. I care about fostering a culture of risk awareness and maintain continuous oversight.

As the Chief Operations Officer, my aim is to gain an understanding of the multifaceted impact of technology processes on operational effectiveness, encompassing both the positive and negative aspects.
I am constantly on the lookout for increased bureaucracy, stifled agility, slowed decision-making, hindered innovation, and potential for misalignment to business outcomes.
